05:08 pm - Moving
We have FINALLY gotten the word that Gerry's clearances have gone through. That is, his transfer is now in the works and in 2 days he and I will fly out to Palmdale to look for a house to move into. This whole thing is going to happen in about 3 weeks. Ain't live weird?

09:56 am - Life, etc.
I know I should post here more often. But I . . . well, I just don't.
Our lives are kinda messed up right now and we are very stressed here at Casa Tyra. The Friday before Christmas Gerry was told that he would be transferred to Palmdale "as soon as the security clearances can be acquired." Now, Gerry already has a Top Secret Clearance with a Special Access addenda. All he needs is a second Special Access from whoever the customer is in Palmdale. It is now 12 weeks later and we still haven't gotten the word that the Clearances have been given. And Gerry got a 60 day layoff notice in the middle of February. By the middle of April we will be dead in the water and frankly we cannot survive a layoff financially. So stress. Big time. we don't sleep well, so we are tired on top of everything else.
Now you know why I don't post. It's too depressing to think about.
So, less depressing: we got the new Stargate: SG1 straight to DVD movie last night and watched it. I liked it! (Needed more Daniel, though.)

12:25 pm - Stuff
Well, it has been a while since I posted anything here. I read what other folks post, but rarely think anything I have to say is worth the effort of typing it. I'm lazy. I do have some news. We are moving. My Honey Pot is being transfered to the Lockheed Skunk Works (TM) as soon as his clearances are in order. Then we will be off to Palmdale, CA. I just wish the client would get off their duffs and okay the clearances. I hate being in Limbo.
Also, I have been very ill for the last two weeks with two different things. I had about two days between illnesses when I was well enough to get out and about, but other than that, I have been in bed sleeping or on the couch, sleeping.

08:43 pm - Stupid tag line
The tag on my previous entry is apparently too long. it is supposed to say: Gun Control is being able to hit what you aim at.
08:29 pm - The perfect Mother's Day
I had such a lovely Mother's Day. Very apt cards from everyone. Rhiannon made me a wonderful breakfast. Then the whole family took me out to. . .the firing range to go shooting. Guns, that is.(This was what I asked to do.) On the way we stopped at Burger King (we don't get to eat at BK much anymore as both of the ones close to us have closed.) Then on to the Bass Pro firing range. The range is in the sporting goods store. We had never been to Bass Pro before and the facility is mind boggling. It not only has a large restaurant attached to the store, but on the other side of the restaurant there's a hotel! And the store is immense. And the people there were so nice! I just loved it.
I had not fired a gun in SEVEN years so I figured I would really screw it up. Not so. I put very nearly EVERY round smack into the middle of the target. My grouping was very close and no more than 3 round were stray. And I don't think any of them actually missed completely. I was astounded, on many levels. I love my laser sight.
On the way home we stopped at Diary Queen.
It was a great day. My shoulder is killing me, but it was way worth it.

11:17 am - I'm a monster!
Okay, I did that Monster name thing that I found over on MacGyvergal's LJ. Here's my monster name:
Sinister, Abhorrent Nihilism-Driven Yokel-Torturing, Youth-Reaping Abomination from the Sanctuary
I couldn't figure out how to get the picture I chose over here. Sorry. I am only semi-computer literate.

03:21 pm - What a week!
I haven't posted in quite a while, what withhaving very little to say and the feeling that this LJ is becoming my whine-a-thon. Nonetheless, more whining is coming right up. I wouldn't have bothered, but I'm pretty sure there's going to be a scar, so I thought I'd just explain it here.
I had a cooking accident last Saturday. I was caramelizing some sugar - for the uniformed, that consists of boiling sugar and water until it turns dark amber (that's if you are using white/granulated sugar) - and I splashed some on my left wrist. I let out a scream, dropped the spoon and tried to get it off with my - bare, unprotected - right hand. The little finger on the right hand has a dark brown blister, but it will be fine. The left wrist, on the other hand, was burned deeply enough that there was/is a hole approximately 3/4 the size of a dime on it. That's going to leave a scar.
Then to make my week complete, I woke up on Monday with the flu. Gerry's had it for a week longer than I have. We are sick. Hacking our lungs out, croaking like toads, and just feeling yucky. But that stubborn old goat keeps going to work. What is it with men?

03:30 pm - My picture
I finally figured out how to post a picture of me. Yes, that's me. No, it isn't recent. But I WAS in my mid-40's at the time. It's a glamour shot. But I was shocked to discover that I could look that good. What do yu folks think?
